Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Counselor with the Senate EAP

This is responsible professional work providing confidential emotional and behavioral support services for Senate employees. Work includes performing comprehensive assessment, referral, follow-up, problem resolution and support services, and educational support workshops on a variety of behavioral and personal topics. EAP Consultant – FOH 
Magellan Health, Washington, D.C.

Provides direct support to organizations and their employees through the delivery of assessment, consultation, education and triage services. Uses knowledge of federal regulations to assist organizations in their appropriate handling of employee concerns and problems. Consults with employees and organizations on variety of workplace and work based issues. Provides clinical expertise in order to restore employees with diminished performance to healthy functioning. Candidate must have independent clinical license in Washington, DC and have 5 years post masters experience.

Human Trafficking

Saving Our Own Summit 
Date: Friday, November 2, 2018
Time: 0730 – 1630 hours
Location: Fairfax Marriott at Fair Oaks 11787 Lee Jackson Memorial Highway Fairfax, VA 22033

The Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department Behavioral Health section is partnering with the Fairfax County Police Department to host the second annual Saving Our Own Summit focused on  firefighters, police officers,  first responders and how clinicians and EAP’s can be of assistance.   The conference includes sponsorship by the Virginia Department of Fire Programs and CIGNA Healthcare.  Deadline to register is Friday, October 19, 2018.  The cost is free and a hot breakfast and lunch will be provided


Nationally known subject matter experts will speak on the associated topics and the contributing factors that lead first responders to be high risk for suicidal ideation. The conference will focus on the following:

                  PTSD and Resilience - Dr. Kris Morris and Dr. Marcus Van Sickle
                  Performing in high stress environments -  Jarrod Greene
                  Cultural competency for helping first responders – Dr. William Brim, Center for Deployment Psychology
                  Sleep deprivation – Dr. William Brim, Center for Deployment Psychology
                  Tools for peers to de-escalate co-workers – John Becker and James Nestor, Livengrin Foundation for Addiction Recovery
                  EAP support to first responders - John Becker and James Nestor, Livengrin Foundation for Addiction Recovery
                  Consequences of the badge – Suicide prevention video produced by Fairfax County Police Department
